Civic memory

Building
Monuments

A monument program about courage, sacrifice, civic inheritance, and the problem of building public memory while the culture is still arguing about itself.

The first deliverable is a monument people can actually visit; the long path is a national veterans monument worthy of the people it remembers.

The work is currently organized around two connected projects. The American Hero's Journey, inspired by Plutarch, will introduce Americans to their best men overcoming their hardest times. The American Veterans Monument is the national ambition: a larger public work that needs coalition, advisors, donors, site strategy, and cultural trust.

First build

The American Hero's Journey

A focused monument meant to prove taste, execution, and donor seriousness before the national project asks for a larger civic mandate.

Long path

The American Veterans Monument

A national-scale monument concept for veterans, memory, sacrifice, and the difficult dignity of service across generations. More to come.
